G. B. Pergolesi opera seria-intermezzo inversion project Livietta e Tracollo
When Livietta e Tracollo visit the psychotherapist's to clarify their affairs...
This comic opera production is the young performers flirt with opera seria and intermezzo genres. The centrepiece is Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Livietta e Tracollo, a rarely performed intermezzo, which tells the love story of the mercurial adventurer Tracollo, and the wily cunning beauty Livietta. This time, in contrast to the 18th century tradition, the serious opera passages surrounds and frames the comic story.
The masterful composers of the Baroque era have left us with an immense musical heritage. One of the tasks of today's performers is to try to recreate Baroque opera, however, inevitably - also, to reinvent it. Even as we strive to continue the traditions, new forms of performance are born in the hands of a modern creator, new ways of expression that are relevant to the present day are established - only the intelligent relationship with the material at hand remains unchanged. The totality of the scenic solutions makes it possible to grasp an immutable axis where the rhetoric, the versatility of the musical language and the quality of the performance are united.

"PLAY, SING, DANCE" pop-up
The performance "PLAY, SING, DANCE pop-up" is a reflection of Baroque music in contemporary dance, interweaving vocal-chamber music from the Baroque era and contemporary dance improvisations. It is a creative synthesis of two art forms. Jana Zariņa (harpsichord, Latvia), Karolina Parmas (soprano, Lithuania) and Ana Novickaja (contemporary dance, Lithuania) teamed up for this project. The artists are united by the desire to find new forms of artistic expression and effective means of presenting professional art to the public in interesting ways. The pulse, rhythmic and harmonic subtleties dictated by early music are reflected in contemporary dance performer. With this performance, the performers aim to show that professionalism liberates people. Many hours of consistent work pays off - individuals who have developed the technical skills and elements of their field are free to improvise and create new ideas and products. Improvisation is the aspiration of Baroque music performance - true creative freedom and the core of mastery. It is an opportunity to see, analyse and appreciate this unexpected interaction between two cultural fields that are far apart in time. The performance features Baroque music and contemporary dance in one place in time - PLAY, SING, DANCE pop-up.
